FAQs
What is solid cologne and how do I use it?
Think of it as a concentrated, wax-based version of your favorite scent—minus the cheap alcohol that evaporates in ten minutes. I make our solid colognes with a base of beeswax and jojoba oil so the fragrance actually "clings" to your skin and lasts longer. To use it, just swipe a finger across the balm to warm it up, then hit your pulse points (neck and wrists). It’s discreet, it won't leak in your bag, and it smells like a man, not a middle-school locker room.
Why should I use your aftershave instead of a store-brand splash?
Most "big-brand" aftershaves are basically just scented alcohol that nukes your skin, leaving it dry and irritated. My aftershave is a different beast. I formulated it to actually heal your skin after a blade has been dragged across it. We use natural ingredients that calm "razor burn" on contact and hydrate your face instead of stripping it. If you want that refreshing finish without the "sting and skin-flaking" that comes with the cheap stuff, this is your go-to.
Is Vern’s actually "all-natural," or is that just marketing?
I started this brand because I was done with the "junk", those synthetic silicones and parabens that have no business being in your routine. Every Vern’s product is built on a foundation of 98% clean, earth-derived ingredients. My rule is simple: if I wouldn't use it on my own face while working in the shop, I won't put it in a bottle for you. No shortcuts, just quality.
I have a sensitive face. Will your products cause breakouts?
Actually, they’ll probably help. Most breakouts come from harsh chemicals or "cloggy" carrier oils. I use premium oils like jojoba and sunflower because they mimic your skin’s natural oils. They soak in quickly to hydrate your skin and hair without leaving you feeling greasy or blocked up.
How do I know which product is right for my beard length?
Think of it this way: Beard Oil is for the skin underneath (essential for the "itchy" phase), while Beard Balm is for the hair itself (offering a light hold to keep stray hairs in place). If you’re just starting out, the Oil is your best friend. If you’ve got a full thicket, you’ll want the Balm to keep it looking sharp.
Why does the scent of my product vary slightly between orders?
That’s the beauty of small-batch craft. Since we use real essential oils and raw ingredients—not synthetic fragrances made in a lab—nature dictates the profile. Just like a good whiskey, every batch has its own soul, but the quality and performance never change.
Where are Vern’s products made?
Right here in the USA. I formulate, mix, and pour our products in small batches. While I source the highest-quality raw Shea Butter from its natural home (because it’s the best for your skin), the grit, the labor, and the craftsmanship are 100% American.
